death is everywhere

Death is everywhere,

the faded moon smoothly hides

behind the red-bricked buildings;

it, too, is ashamed.

The sky is empty of stars,

they faded,

as did so many souls

covered in ash and dust.

The sky turns red

without the flames

or the blames;

it reminds us of the death

we all hide in our hearts.

The Old House, Kozani, GR 2013

[Photographs created during a cloudy November morning in 2013.]

Those photographs represent my childhood memories of this house, in which we lived till 1998. The most fascinating thing, seeing all those places after many years, was that everything was much smaller than I remembered! What the childhood eyes distort, the adult brain dismisses.

St. Thomas, Xenia, Kozani, GR 2017

Xenia is one of the northest parts of my hometown, where a famous hotel used to be, “XENIA”, that gave its name to the area. Now, you will find many new houses that have been built, but also a small – but beautiful – forest there too. Following that path through the forest, you soon find yourself in front of Saint Thomas, a church I used to visit often in my childhood. School trips, festivals, weddings and baptisms, it was all happening here. So it was nice, and quite weird, to visit this place after so many years.

Blooming Contrasts, Lefkada 2014

My obsessions with flowers and their beauty is evident through this gallery.

This contrast between perfection and imperfection that this gallery represents, reminds me of us – people- , struggling to prove to others that we are perfect, while being imperfect is the most beautiful thing in the world.

I photographed these flowers in Lefkada island in Mr. Vasili’ s garden (Greece, 2014).
